Sagres II is at the present time Portugal's training ship. The Sagres II is a three masted Barque built in 1937 in Germany as a training ship for the German Navy. Its first name was Albert Leo Schalageter. During the Second World War it was refitted to carry out supply missions for the Baltic Fleet.

After the war it was requisitioned by the United States. In 1961 it was handed over to Brazil and finally in 1962 it was sold to the Portuguese Navy which brought it to replace the Sgres, a ship that had been launched in 1896.

Its square sails have red crosses on them. It has a crew of 218 men, including 12 officers and 86 professional sailors. Its hull is made of steel. Its classical cruises round the Atlantic, both North & South, attest to Portugal's extensive seafaring tradition.

INCLUDES: SAGRES, contains all parts necessary for assembly: Hull painted plastic (HIPS) and prefabricated metal and wood. A detailed instruction manual with step by step photos of the whole assembly process. Plane with all views and details necessary for assembly.
