The Canadian CL-84 experimental aircraft, with its tilt-wing technology, is capable of vertical take-off and landing. The purpose of the experiment was to develop a multi-functional long-range high-payload aircraft which, similar to a helicopter, did not require a runway, and could attain the high speed of an aeroplane.
